Keeping with tradition

Calbe Chemie GmbH was founded in February 1991 as a management buy-out. The company is dedicated to continuing the tradition - which began in the German city of Calbe in 1968 - of producing chemicals for photographic processing, film and printing.

Today our staff consists of 45 experienced and highly trained employees producing innovative products which make the processing of nearly all commercially available light-sensitive materials possible. Therefore, about one out of four member of staff is involved in quality assurance and product development.

Production is divided into two technological lines:

• Liquids
  (concentrates, prepared solutions and paste products)
• Powders and granulates

Our products are developed, produced and distributed for the following fields of application:

• X-ray
• Dental
• Graphics
• Printing room
• Colour
• Cine
• Black and white

In Calbe, the production facilities extend over an area of approx. 50,000 m² which include covered hall areas of about 6,000 m².

In 2003 the construction of a new concentrate production plant was completed where state-of-the art technology is perfectly combined with future-oriented capacity planning and where valuable know-how as well as long-standing experience is translated into practical applications.

With the implementation of new production capacities, the company simultaneously paved the way for further diversification into neighbouring and technologically compatible areas of chemical production. With this strategic move Calbe Chemie GmbH continues to strengthen its position as a supplier of economically viable and effective turnkey solutions for its clients.
